Choral Arts Initiative offers the World Premiere of Rodríguez’ Blessed Be!
Artistic Director Brandon Elliott and his Choral Arts Initiative announce their 2023-24 season. The southern California-based ensemble – recognized as a champion of new music as a recipient of the American Prize in Choral Performance and an ASCAP/Chorus America Award for Adventurous Programming – will present four quarterly concerts in its 12th season, each exploring a different dimension of thehuman experience. In addition to their main season, two additional exciting announcements are forthcoming later this fall.
Tracing a season-long narrative arc along the theme of "Threads of Connection,” Choral Arts Initiative’s will perform on March 10, 2024, 4:30pm Pacific Time, "Tapestry of Becoming,” at St. Marks Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach. The concert will take you on a beautiful journey of self-discovery, resilience, transformation, and love. Featuring four commissioned works, the pieces talk about finding your place in the world, loving yourself, and appreciating everything life has to offer. There's a metaphorical story about a river bravely entering the vast ocean, becoming something greater in the process. The pieces also give blessings for peace, harmony, and eternal grace, showing the importance of hope and trust. You'll find a longing to connect with nature and the elements, finding comfort in the music of the mountains. The program ends with a powerful message of strength and faith, celebrating life's unyielding spirit. Join us for this captivating musical journey featuring Iván Enrique Rodríguez Blessed Be! and works by Ayanna Woods, and Aaron Manswell.
