Pianist Rolando Antonio Alejandro gives the Puerto Rican Premiere of Rodríguez’ Epístolas
After culminating his school year at the The Juilliard School in New York City, Rolando Antonio Alejandro start his Puerto Rican tour at the Ponce Museum of Art. The program will include works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Frédéric Chopin and the Puerto Rican Premiere of Rodríguez’ first five Epístolas for solo piano.
Rodríguez’ Epistolas (Epistles) are a series of short piano pieces in the form of letters either establishing or answering an initial correspondence with a specific feeling or emotion. The Epístolas have been a long term project still in composition and although each of them are stand alone pieces, they are connected to each other in different ways. With seven movements already completed, Alejandro will perform the first five.
Rolando Antonio Alejandro is an award winning young and very promising Puerto Rican pianist currently pursuing his undergraduate degree at The Juilliard School. With a profound sense of passion and a delicate musical touch, Rolando Antonio is a young musician with an old soul. Since his breakthrough debut with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra in 2013 when he was thirteen years old, he has established himself as an international pianist in formation.
