Boyle • Cortéz • Makler • Rodríguez • Ramos • Wu
Join Juilliard composers Camden Boyle, Marc Migó Cortés, Trey Makler, Marco-Adrián Ramos, Iván Enrique Rodríguez and Sam Wu in an exciting evening of new music. The concert will hold performances from works by all the composers including the World Premiere of two of Rodríguez’ Epístolas for solo piano performed by the Puerto Rican virtuoso pianist Rolando Antonio Alejandro. The concert will take place in Concert Room 309 at The Juilliard School in Lincoln Center.
Rodríguez’ Epistolas (Epistles) are a series of short piano pieces in the form of letters either establishing or answering an initial correspondence with a specific feeling or emotion. The Epístolas have been a long term project still in composition and although each of them are stand alone pieces, they are connected to each other in different ways. With seven movements already completed, Alejandro will premiere Nos. 1 & 5.
Rolando Antonio Alejandro is an award winning young and very promising Puerto Rican pianist currently pursuing his undergraduate degree at The Juilliard School. With a profound sense of passion and a delicate musical touch, Rolando Antonio is a young musician with an old soul. Since his breakthrough debut with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra in 2013 when he was thirteen years old, he has established himself as an international pianist in formation.
